Valeo to Support Advanced Parking & Maneuvering Features for BMW’s Neue Klasse Platform

Valeo and BMW Group have entered into a new collaboration for which Valeo will provide the ADAS domain controller, sensors, and software to support advanced parking and maneuvering features for BMW’s upcoming Neue Klasse platform. Neue Klasse, set to launch in 2025, will serve as the modular platform for the next generation of BMW EVs.

“This collaboration between BMW Group and Valeo builds on the successful products we have been developing together over the last decades,” said Dr. Nicolai Martin, Senior Vice President, Driving Experience, BMW Group.

“We are excited and proud to embark on this journey with our long-standing partners at BMW,” added Marc Vrecko, President of Valeo’s Comfort & Driving Assistance Systems Business Group. “Beyond the opportunities resulting from our integrated software stack, the domain controller itself is an important cornerstone in our strategy for safer and smarter mobility.”

ADAS Domain Controller

Valeo’s new domain controller, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs, will manage the data flow of ADAS sensors for BMW vehicles built on the Neue Klasse platform. The ADAS domain controller will host Valeo’s software platform for low-speed maneuvering, as well as software assets from BMW and Qualcomm for automated driving. According to a press release, the plan is to utilize real-time mapping to gain an understanding of the surroundings as well as the interior of the vehicle. New features and updates are expected throughout the car’s lifecycle.

“It has been more than 30 years since we launched the BMW Park Distance Control as a world first, and about 15 years since BMW Group began offering its customers multi-camera viewing,” Martin explained, referencing the 2023 7 Series sedan. “We look forward to shaping the future together with Valeo through this close collaboration in our next generation for maneuvering and parking solutions.”

“BMW Neue Klasse will also feature the next generation of Valeo’s ultrasonic sensors, the full set of surround-view cameras, as well as a new multifunctional interior camera that will contribute to improved safety and create a new level of user experience,” Vrecko said.
