AutoX has announced its fully driverless robotaxi service is now operational in downtown Shenzhen. The company’s 5th generation sensing system allows the new robotaxis to maneuver without safety drivers or remote operators. Although AutoX has been testing up to 25 vehicles in Shenzhen this year, this announcement marks the first time a completely autonomous fleet has been deployed in China.
AutoX released this video of a Chrysler Pacifica robotaxi navigating around service trucks and yielding to cyclists and pedestrians. A portion of the video even shows the robotaxi in operation during nightfall.
