dSPACE Expands Autonomous Driving & Data Management Portfolio by Acquiring Intempora

dSPACE recently announced the acquisition of Intempora, a French company that specializes in real-time development software. News of the acquisition follows the long-standing strategic partnership between both companies. Under this previous partnership, Intempora’s real-time multisensor application software, known as RTMaps, was implemented into several dSPACE solutions.

Automotive & ADAS Applications

dSPACE says their autonomous driving portfolio will expand with the full acquisition of Intempora. Since 2000, Intempora has provided the automotive industry with advanced software solutions, including multisensor applications for ADAS and automated driving platforms.

“The leading solutions and highly qualified team at Intempora further strengthen our software portfolio and consistently increase our competencies,” explained Martin Goetzeler, CEO of the dSPACE Group. “We now offer our customers an open, consistent, and even higher performance solution that covers the entire AD development process, from data logging and data enrichment to data replay, scenario generation, and simulation.”

“As part of the dSPACE group companies, we are able to develop our software quickly and in line with the dSPACE end-to-end solutions,” said Nicolas du Lac, CEO of Intempora. “This puts us in an excellent position to support the increasingly complex customer projects in the field of data-driven development. Joining forces with dSPACE is the logical consequence of our years of collaboration.”

Higher Functional Scope

According to dSPACE, the RTMaps solution offered by Intempora is vital when developing algorithms for autonomous vehicles, from rapid prototyping to implementation on the most recent ECUs. The software helps simplify the engineer’s workload when capturing, timestamping, synchronizing, and replaying data from various sensors.

dSPACE notes that complementary solutions from Intempora include the data tagging software RTag, and the Intempora Validation Suite (IVS), a cloud-based data management platform for petabytes of recorded data and finding relevant test scenarios. This allows dSPACE to have a higher “functional scope” when it comes to offering products for data-driven development.

“Based on our end-to-end competencies, we comprehensively support our customers independent of whether they use our integrated solutions or individual components,” Goetzeler added.
