Reuters Events Automotive is hosting an ongoing live series called Celebrating Women in Automotive. The free virtual events feature exclusive live interviews with female leaders and executives from automakers like Hyundai, Lexus, Cadillac, Aston Martin Americas, Mitsubishi, and others. Each session is hosted by Scotty Reiss, the founder of A Girls Guide to Cars.
Women account for only 27 percent of the U.S. auto manufacturing workforce as compared to about 47 percent of the overall labor force. According to research from Automotive News and Deloitte, 65 percent of women say they avoid working in the automotive industry based on the environment, which they deem unappealing. Another 59 percent cite a lack of work/life balance.
Reuters Events Automotive will host the new series with leading women in automotive. The virtual events will provide guidance on how to create a gender-inclusive workplace and how automakers can adjust their operations to develop inclusive strategies across their products, marketing, and services. In addition, the series will provide advice for women within, or wanting to break into the automotive industry.
