Audi Traffic Light Information began as a small pilot program in the mid-2000s and included only six intersections. From these humble beginnings, a wealth of data emerged on how we, as everyday citizens, interact with traffic lights.
The project manager for Traffic Light Information at Audi AG, Michael Zweck, wanted to expand into North America. Zweck later met with transportation and civil engineer Thomas Bauer and explained the program. The meeting inspired Bauer to create Traffic Technology Services. Together, Audi and Traffic Technology Services introduced Traffic Light Information at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
This short video shows how Audi Traffic Light Information works and how data is leveraged to help engineers understand the impacts of traffic lights on personal mobility.
