Innoviz Announces New Details About its InnovizTwo LiDAR Sensor

Innoviz Technologies is continuing to make headlines worldwide. Perhaps the biggest news has been Innoviz and Collective Growth Corporation completing a new business combination which resulted in Innoviz being publicly listed on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “INVZ.” The milestone is a major achievement, given the company’s humble beginnings.

Growing & Expanding

The NASDAQ listing and business combination with Collective Growth Corporation comes as Innoviz moves towards series production of InnovizOne with BMW and expands its overall product portfolio.

For example, Innoviz recently revealed its new perception platform called InnovizAPP, which provides state-of-the-art object classification. InnovizAPP leverages data from Innoviz’s LiDAR sensors, coupled with proprietary AI algorithms, to analyze the point cloud and estimate an object’s speed. And now this latest announcement from Innoviz: the introduction of the InnovizTwo LiDAR sensor.

“On our path to become the market leader, we feel responsible for helping to improve market understanding of LiDARs. Our LiDAR offers an impeccable visual performance, at such an impressive price point,” said Omer Keilaf, CEO and Co-Founder of Innoviz. “I believe InnovizTwo is the world’s most powerful LiDAR that will very soon make autonomous vehicles an everyday safer reality.”

Performance Updates

While the InnovizTwo LiDAR sensor meets the performance criteria set forth by today’s top OEMs, it’s also designed for a wide variety of use cases and applications within other industries. For example, the InnovizTwo LiDAR sensor is ideal for robotaxi, shuttle, delivery, and other companies who desire an automotive-grade, mass-producible solution.

Building upon previous generations of InnovizPro and InnovizOne, the InnovizTwo 905nm LiDAR includes a new detector and scanner, along with multiple overall updates in terms of the optical packaging and electrical design. Highlights of its modular design include an extended field of view (125×40 degrees), increased native resolution of 0.07×0.05 degrees (over 8,000 lines each second), and a range of 300m, with the ability to see small, dark objects with 10 percent reflectivity at over 220m under strong sun conditions of 100Klux (using the high resolution of 0.07×0.05 degrees and 20 frames per second, keeping the full field of view).

“Its specs and features are designed to exceed customer requirements,” Keilaf added. “I could not be prouder of our engineering team for achieving this incredible technological feat.”

Manufacturing & Availability

InnovizTwo samples will undergo rigorous testing and revisions in 2021 to fully optimize the design. Innoviz expects the product will enter series production during 2022 to serve leading vehicle programs due in 2023. Innoviz is also developing new manufacturing tools in order to reach production levels between 500,000 and 1,000,000 units yearly by 2024. Customers that are using InnovizOne currently will be able to switch to InnovizTwo as their programs continue to scale.
